Un sueño de 20 años hecho realidad... A dream of 20 years becomes reality...
Executive Director
Vivian Ang
Vivian dreamed of a Literacy Center for 20 years. The dream started when she first had contact with immigrants in 1988. She had 20 years of preparation in the Latino community and with community groups. Over the past 20 years she also had the opportunity to learn Spanish. All of these experiences prepared her for the Mid-Valley Literacy Center.
She has a B. S. degree from Oregon State University and 23 graduate credits in Bilingual Education and Cross-Cultural Communications from Portland State University and Western Oregon University. She has taken additional courses in Family Counseling and Parent/Family Education. She has 20 years of experience in volunteer coordination and tutoring youth and adults, including nine years coordinating the program of 30-35 volunteers and over 100 students for the Literacy Volunteer Program at the Chemeketa Community College Santiam Center.
