Training sessions are designed to prepare volunteers to teach English skills and/or help adults prepare for the GED. The training is conducted in one seven-hour session.
Volunteer requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have attained at least a high school diploma or a GED. Tutors are not required to speak or understand a language other than English. Our training sessions are fun and interactive. PLEASE NOTE: Volunteers must complete a two-hour pre-training orientation prior to attending the actual tutor training sessions.
Cost for Volunteer Training: Registration is $40 for tutors who will be working with the MVLC or at one of our partner sites. The fee is $60 for all other tutors. The trainings are conducted by Vivian Ang and Debra Gaul, former trainers with the Literacy Volunteer Program at Chemeketa Community College.
